Architecture

Believed to have been copied from a church built in the Lombardy district of Italy during the latter part of the 6th century. The style is Lombardo-Byzantine in its simple basilica form.

Early Eastern Christians modelled their places of worship on the Roman Hall of Justice, with its long rectangular hall, double colonnade of pillars and arched or domes apse. Italians adopted this style often adding a belfry tower and porch.
